Diabetes affects more than two million people in Britain alone, with many more victims around the globe. So to focus attention on the disease the World Health Organisation has nominated the 14th of November as World Diabetes Day. It's also the birthdate of Frederick Banting, one of the men who discovered insulin used to treat the illness. Professor Desmond Johnston from Imperial College in London is Director of the Diabetes Research Network. VoRís Tim Ecott asked him why the disease seemed to be increasing.
