Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party claims the local election results mark a "sea of change in British politics". VoRís Daniel Cinna has been looking at the results so far. UKIP has made huge electoral gains, winning 78 seats so far and averaging 25% of the vote in the wards where it is standing. Nigel Farage has now declared his party the "official opposition". Meanwhile Prime Minister David Cameron has said all the mainstream political parties had "major lessons" to learn. The Liberal Democrats - part of the governing coalition government in the UK - also had a poor showing, with the latest projections showing them relegated to fourth place overall, with just 14% of the vote.
