The European Union has been mediating talks between the presidents of Serbia and Kosovo in Brussels. VoR's Tim Ecott spoke to Dr. Artiom Ulunian, Head of Balkan Studies at the Institute of World History in Moscow. Baroness Ashton, the EU foreign policy chief said the talks were open and constructive, although President Nikolic of Serbia has stated that recognising an independent Kosovo is not a prospect. But Serbia is at the same time said to be keen to gain admission to the European Union and its rumoured that some conscessions could be made as part of such a deal.
