Gun advocate and author Chris Kyle has been found shot to death at a gun range in Texas. The former US Navy Seal wrote American Sniper and has another co-written book called American Gun - A History of the U.S. in Ten Firearms, coming out in May.

The news was reported on Sunday by Scott McEwen, co-author of American Sniper.

A second, unnamed, man was reportedly found dead with Chris Kyle, who served four tours of combat in Iraq.

The former serviceman said after the Newtown, Connecticut school shootings that he was in favour of arming selected teachers.

Motives for the killings were not immediately clear.
