Women in the world of classical music are under increasing pressure to be as glamorous as Hollywood stars. That means that ordinary-looking female musicians can be overlooked – no matter how impressive their ability.

Jessica Duchen is a music journalist for The Independent and has just written a piece on the subject. Alice Lagnado invited Jessica into the studio, and began by asking her how ingrained sexism is in the world of classical music.
